ABOUT NURTURENEWBORN

Parenting advice that respects your intelligence and your exhaustion

NurtureNewborn exists because most parenting content falls into one of two categories: clinical to the point of coldness, or so relentlessly cheerful it makes you feel worse. We wanted something in between — warm, specific, evidence-backed, and written for people who are tired.

Why We Started

At 3am with a three-week-old, you don’t need a listicle. You need to know whether what’s happening is normal, and roughly when it ends.

That was the gap we kept running into. Search for something as basic as “how long should a first birthday party last” and you’ll find fifty articles listing party themes and not one that answers the question. Search for a newborn sleep schedule and you’ll find either dense clinical literature or vague reassurance with no numbers in it.

So NurtureNewborn was built around a simple principle: answer the actual question, with actual specifics, and cite where the information came from. If we say a newborn sleeps 16 to 17 hours a day, we’ll tell you the range is genuinely 11 to 19 and where that figure originates. If we recommend a paint colour for a nursery, we’ll give you the exact name and code rather than saying “a soft sage.”

What We Stand For

Specifics Over Vagueness

Real numbers, real product names, real paint codes, real timings. “A calming neutral” helps nobody. “Farrow & Ball Mizzle No.266” lets you actually buy something.

Evidence, Not Opinion

Anything health-related draws on the American Academy of Pediatrics, the NHS, the CDC, Sleep Foundation, and peer-reviewed research — and we tell you which.

No Judgement

Breast or bottle. Cot or co-sleeper. Elaborate first birthday or a cake at home. There is no single right way to raise a child, and we don’t pretend otherwise.

Budget Reality

Every guide includes a genuine budget option. A beautiful nursery does not require $5,000, and we’ll always show you the version that doesn’t.

The Hard Topics Too

IVF announcements. Rainbow babies. Pregnancy after loss. Most parenting sites skip these entirely. The families living them deserve better than silence.

Kept Current

Safe sleep guidance changes. Trends change. We revisit our guides rather than letting them quietly go out of date behind a fresh-looking design.

How We Research

Every guide follows the same process before it gets published.

  1. We identify what parents are actually asking. Not what’s easy to write about — what people genuinely search for at 2am.
  2. We check the existing answers. Where the top results are vague, contradictory, or simply don’t answer the question, that’s where we focus.
  3. We source health information from recognised authorities. The American Academy of Pediatrics, the NHS, the CDC, the Lullaby Trust, Sleep Foundation, and published clinical research.
  4. We include the numbers. Ranges, timings, costs, and measurements — with the source, so you can verify it yourself.
  5. We revisit and update. Guidance changes. Products get discontinued. Trends shift. Old content that quietly stops being accurate is worse than no content.

An important note on medical information: NurtureNewborn provides general information for educational purposes. It is not medical advice and does not replace guidance from your paediatrician, GP, midwife, or health visitor. Every baby is different. If anything about your child’s health, sleep, feeding, or development concerns you, please speak to a healthcare professional who knows your family.
